Exchange

Spend your 5th semester abroad. How exchange works on DM, what is different for DM students, and where to find the rest.

On DM the 5th semester has room for your own choices: electives, exchange or an internship.

Exchange

Many students choose to go on exchange in their 5th semester, usually at one of CBS’ more than 300 partner universities.

When you go on exchange through CBS, you do not have to pay for the teaching at the foreign university (with a few exceptions), and you can bring your SU.

How DM is different

Exchange places are given out on an overall assessment of you as a student. On most programmes the academic part is your GPA from the 1st year. DM has no grades in the 1st semester, so for DM students it is made up of your 2nd-semester grades and a motivational essay.

Your overall assessment
  • 2nd-semester grades · 75% of the academic part, about 64% of the total
  • Motivational essay · 25% of the academic part, about 21% of the total
  • Student Citizenship · 15% of the total
If two students want the same place and get the same overall assessment, there is a random draw.

Electives

You can also choose courses that support your own interests. CBS offers a large number of electives, and you can take electives at other Danish universities. The electives have to be relevant for your programme.

Internship

You can swap some of your electives for an academic internship: a period working in a company, finished with a project report. The internship can be in Denmark or abroad, and your tasks and the report have to be relevant to your programme.
