September 17th, KPMG opened their doors for an exclusive event for DM students and the turnout was impressive! 113 students signed up and 22 were added to a waiting list due to reaching the full capacity of the event. This is the first partnership event where the union had to create a waitlist to try to accommodate all those who were interested in the event. This came as no surprise as KPMG had lined up a great event at their headquarters in Nordhavn. When showing up students checked in, got snacks and sodas before sitting down.
There were four speakers, two of whom were Digital Management alumni. First, we heard Line Nørgaard, a Manager in NewTech. She spoke about KPMG’s work how they help their clients implementing cool AI solutions. Next, Tobias Bistrup, a Consultant in CFO Advisory’s Digital Finance team, gave insights into working in CFO Advisory and Digital Finance. He also shared a project his team is currently working on—creating automated reporting using PowerApps and Power BI.
The final two speakers shared two things in common: they were part of the first CBS DM class in 2018, and both are called Martin. Martin Schmidt, an Associate in Deal Advisory Transaction Services, discussed tech due diligence and how technologies influence M&A deals. Martin Lange, a Consultant in NewTech, provided concrete examples of the technologies KPMG works with and what a typical day looks like for consultants in this field. He concluded by discussing how his Digital Management bachelor’s degree has benefited his work and the value it brings to KPMG. This was a highly engaging talk, showing students where their DM education could take them and introducing them to different corners of the consulting world.
After the talks, everyone split into teams for a quiz that tested their knowledge of the presentations, KPMG, and the speakers themselves. The winning team scored some awesome gift bags before everyone moved on to dinner, drinks, and networking.
